Come and See What?
There will always be those that will say “Come over here and see
the Lord”. We all have our times when God does things in our walk
and ministries that make us desire for others to come and see. I believe
that every ministry that is being used by God, whether they are homebound
or in another country, deals with the trials and tribulations that our
Lord told us to look out for. Because of these trials, we also see the
Power of God moving in ways that utterly shakes us and humbles us. We think
that we should run and tell what has just happened. Before we go running
to the nearest PC, telephone or local grapevine, we might want to ask ourselves
if that is indeed what God wants us to do. If we remember our Bible and
the examples we are given, there might be something else that is happening.
Consider the water to wine, the centurion’s servant, the disciples
in the storm, Peter’s mother-in-law, Jesus’ mountain top experience,
these were all examples where only a few people knew the truth and their
faith was strengthened because of what God just did in their lives. I think
that sometimes we look for our ministries to be justified by others rather
than by Christ. It’s not the recognition of the world, secular or
Christian, that we should be looking for but the Lord’s recognition.
Yes, there are times when in scripture and reality today that we are supposed
to run and tell. But, those are to point to Christ not ourselves or our
ministries. I am under the conviction that in the last days ‘men
will be gathering people unto themselves rather than to God’. The
world wants to see us act like Christians not like themselves, and you
better believe that they know the difference. The difference can be seen
in us helping our brothers in times of hardship rather than hoping to see
them fall so we shine brighter. It can be seen in stopping rumors rather
than repeating them ourselves. It can be seen in lack of jealousy, envy
or covetous desires rather than wondering when it will be our time to shine.
Our Lord has been gone a long time and it is easy for us to think that
we can live as we want and take advantage of His people but, He shall come
when we least expect it and we shall have to account for our actions… we
had better open our eyes before it’s to late. You see, it is suppose
to be all about HIM not about us!
